Guerrilla Yarn Bombing

“Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, yarn storming, guerrilla knitting, kniffiti, urban knitting or graffiti knitting is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk.” – Wikipedia

I heard about this a few years ago but had forgotten about it until I ran across an old article. They create unexpected whimsy in dark, cold and sterile places. And, they make me think. Who are these midnight knitters? Why do they do it? What are some other ways people create beauty in ugly situations? If the Truffala Trees had never been destroyed would they eventually become something like this? What if the whole world was like this? Would we be happier?
