It’s Saturday night – a¬†traditional time of crazy conversations in our household and I want to share the hilarity. ūüôā

So… I give you a few of tonight’s ponderables.

  • Why is it that everyone driving faster than you is an idiot and everyone driving slower than you is a moron?
  • What is another word for thesaurus?
  • Is it colder in the winter or the city?
  • Do butterflies remember their life as a caterpillar?
  • Why doesn’t¬†honey come in a plastic bee?
  • If you were in an accident and lost your legs, would you have to change your height and weight on your driver’s license?
  • If you put a chameleon in a room full of mirrors, what color would it turn?
  • Why don’t woodpeckers get headaches or concussions when they are slamming their heads into trees all day?
  • Why do round pizzas always come in a square box?

Photography Challenge 10/10/2014

I am trying the Daily Post’s weekly photography challenge¬†and this week’s theme is “Dreamy.”

I only have a cell phone. I don’t own an actual camera but, I love playing. I also have a love of the surreal. Can you tell?

I do have specific things I think about when I look at these pictures. However, because I prefer to keep the things in my blog open for interpretation / inspiration, I am providing only the titles.¬†All¬†were taken with and edited on my very old Samsung cell phone (Yes, a¬†few¬†of them were taken¬†while moving – on foot or in the passenger seat of a car. ūüėČ )

Guerrilla Yarn Bombing

“Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, yarn storming, guerrilla knitting, kniffiti, urban knitting or graffiti knitting is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk.” – Wikipedia

I heard about this a few years ago but had forgotten about it until I ran across an old article. They create unexpected whimsy in dark, cold and sterile places. And, they make me think. Who are these midnight knitters? Why do they do it? What are some other ways people create beauty in ugly situations? If the Truffala Trees had never been destroyed would they eventually become something like this? What if the whole world was like this? Would we be happier?

Phoneography Challenge – Signs

After finishing Blogging 101 with my primary blog, I decided to join the phoneography challenge. However, it struck me that these photos could also inspire creativity so… ta da! May I present my favorites as of 1:17pm?

For some reason (keep in mind I have only been blogging a month) I can’t figure out how to attach a pingback in a gallery to the original post. As such, please know that these photos belong to the following bloggers:

Slam Poetry

Take something¬†already written…

  • A chapter of a novel (written by you or someone else)
  • The lyrics of a song
  • The 7th word on each of a¬†random selection of dictionary pages (oh… let’s say, pages 23, 94, 96, 133, 257 and 444. Or, match the pages numbers to the birth dates¬†of all your best friends or children.)
  • A letter to the editor
  • The back of your cereal box

And re-work it into a slam poem. Or, take a slam poem and use it to create a short story, a song, a painting, a chapter of your new best seller. ‚̧
